MRT positions Malaysia as global hub

Malaysia’s Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) will become a driving force in the country’s future, as it will not only transform Kuala Lumpur into a globalised city but also bring local economic benefits and globalise local destinations in the tourism market, said Gavin Tee, Founding President of Swhengtee International.
The groundbreaking ceremony of Klang Valley’s Sungai Buloh-Kaiang MRT Line opened a promising new chapter for the country’s economic growth. It will also greatly impact areas within the vicinity, as well as the whole country.
Gavin Tee declared that the new line, coupled with the Circle and Ampang-Port Klang lines, will attract economic benefits that will stretch beyond Malaysia’s boundaries and solidify its international standing as a smart investment destination.
Kuala Lumpur will be transformed into a globalised city through enhanced connectivity from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to KL Sentral, to several other destinations, such as Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur International Financial District (KLIFD) and Warisan Merdeka. The influx of international travellers will positively affect local tourism, as tourists will head to other destinations outside the capital as well.
The proposed high speed rail system linking Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and perhaps China will lure more Asian tourists to Malaysia. In addition, its improved accessibility will become a catalyst for tourism destinations in Iskandar Malaysia, Kota Kinabalu, Langkawi, Melaka and Penang.
“The success of the Kuala Lumpur capital's modernisation will have a spill over effect on multiple fronts, from Malaysia's economy to its tourism industry. This great infrastructure project would have a multiplier effect on the economy, resulting in time-savings for travelling, and reduction in air pollution. This would lead to improved productivity, improved standards of living and environmental conservation,” said Tee.
